Week 2 Term 3

This week we are learning how to find the perimeter of different shapes and how to change from kilometers to meter , meter to centimeters, centimeters to millimeters and the other way round as well. To get kilometers to meters you have to times the number by 1000, to get meters to centimeters you have to times the number by 100, to get centimeters to millimeters you have to times the number by 10 and to go the other way you have to divide instead of times. For English we have been doing two word sentences and we had to make a poem out of them and I am doing mine on spring.

Science Fair

This year my school had a science fair and the photo above is what I enter in the science fair. I did mine about what substance melts ice the fastest and if the room temperate and humidity had any effect on the time it takes the ice to melt. I thought that the salt was going to melt the ice the fastest but in the end the water melted the ice the fastest and then the salt, sugar and the on with nothing on it. The room temp did not realy have any effect on the ice but the humidity did because the higher the humidity was the faster the ice melted.

Week 6 Term 2

This week I learnt how to multiply and divide decimals by using algorithms I also learnt how to change decimals to factions and then to percentage. To change decimals to factions you have to find the place value of the last number and then that is your denominator and then you put the number with out the decimal point as your numerator then to change it to a percentage you put the numerator as the percentage. For english we did note taking and I learnt how to write a topic sentence.

Week 5 Term 2

This week I learn t how to add and subtract decimals when using a different strategy. The strategy that I used was when you subtracting you add on to the last number so that it is a whole number and then you add on to your answer what you added on to the last number and then you have got the right answer. To do adding decimals you just do the same except you subtract instead of adding to the last number and the answer. This week for writing we had to do note taking and then put it in to a story and from that I learn t how to note take and how to wright topic sentences.

Next week my goal is to get better at writing topic sentences

Week 4 Term 2

This week we did maths and learnt an easier way to order decimals. To do it the way that we learnt is where you put all the decimal in a line downwards and then if you are putting them from smallest to biggest you look down the line and find the one that is the smallest number and if there are two numbers the same you look at the next number after it and then the one that is the smallest you put at the top and then you keep doing that until you have finish and then you should have got them right. We also did art this week and we learnt how to draw cats.

Week 3 Term 2

This week I have learnt how to change improper numbers to mixed numbers. This week we also did English and fro that we did vocab sheets and I learnt what an epigram is and epigram is a short poem. On Tuesday we went to food and tried making sushi wrapichs this is what we called them because it looked like a sandwich and a wrap and I learnt how to use the thing that you roll the sushi up with and that it tastes better with a tortilla wrap on the outside than it does with nori. So next time we are going to try it with nori on the inside and then put the tortilla wrap on the outside.

Week 2 Term 2

Last week I went on camp and we did some intelligents activities and I learnt that it is very hard to keep a plank of wood balanced and then sit down and stand up again. We also learnt how to make a bridge with two planks of wood some stakes and a rope and then still be able to walk over it with out it breaking. This week we wrote explanations on what and insect is and I learnt that i don’t need to number the stages and should put my paragraphs in a better order. This week we have been doing things for science fair and have done an experiment on what effect it will have on the fight of the plane if we change how wide the wing span is and we learnt that the plane that went the longest was not the plane that had the longest wing span.

Week 7 Term 1

This week I learnt a new jump jam dance and the song was from the movie Madagascar. This week in maths we learnt about positive numbers and negative numbers and we also learnt a new game to do with positive and negative numbers and it was called walk the plank to play this game you need a number line and to dice that have a s and a b and on the other dice you need 1f, 2f, 3f and you on the other three sides you put instead of and f you put a b and on the first the b stands for boat and the stands for sharks and on the other dice the amount of the number means that you move that many spaces and if it got an f behind it, it means forward and if its got a b behind it, it means backward so you roll both dice and on the one that has the b and the s on it, it means that what ever it landed on it is what way you should be facing and on both of the sides there should be a s and a b and on the other dice you move what ever space you got and the way that it tells you to go. This week for English we are doing a book report and I am almost finished that and we are also doing and sheet that has lots of different things to do with vocabulary and what words mean and I only have one or two pages to go.

Week 7 Term 1

This week in science we made a slimy liquid that when you hold in the same place for a little while is will start to get hard and then dry up and stick to you fingers and it is very hard to get it off with out water. Then Miss Green our teacher for science put it all over the table and let us play with it and then we had to clean it up and put it in a black paper. I also learnt how to add positive and negative numbers together and find the answer. To find the answer you need to have a number line with all the numbers on it and put a dot on the number that you need to start on and then if you are adding a positive you go to the right and if you are adding negative you need to go to the left on the number line. This week we did jump jam and learnt some more songs. And we had a comp on which class had the best dancing and the most enthusiasm and room two won.

My goal for this week is to get a perfect in a category in mathetics

To achieve this goal I will need to go on to mathletics and try my best to get perfect in a category

Week 6 Term 1

This week I learnt how to do bedmas. To do bedmas you have to do the brackets first, then the expo if there is any, then the times then the plus and the minus. In science we learnt that iron sand is magnetic and that you can only put a south magnetic with a north magnetic together and we took a test to see how much we learnt in sciences this term and I got 100% in it. I also learnt how to play greedy pig. To play greedy pig you need a dice and a spare piece of paper. You need to draw a grid with the letters of greedy pig at the top of each line and numbers up to 6 across the side going downwards and someone will roll the dice and then what ever number it lands on you write it in the first square but if you get a six you get no points for the rest of that round and then go on to the next round and if you get any other number you get as many points as that number and you keep going to till the end and you can sit down at any time but in the first go in the new round and get no more points for that round and then at the end who ever has the most points in the end that person wins.
